Built-in Bookcases Framing A Fireplace

This project was a unique challenge as it was a custom build for a long-distance client who planned on doing the installation. The design and fabrication considered that the client – who readily agreed his carpentry skills were limited – could install the units and still retain the built-in look. Stealing a few flat pack ideas, we created the bookcases as assembled modular units for transporting and installation. We integrated under-shelf lighting and behind the crown molding upper lighting. The warm temperature LED lighting is dimmable, and the effect sets the mood in their final location. Cabinets with solid wood doors with a simple Shaker profile provided ample storage, adjustable shelves allowed for books and display space. Shiplap backing, crown molding, and a crisp white enamel elevated the design.
